Payment of business rate bills is automatically set on a 10-month cycle, but we do allow for flexible payment options.
For all methods of payment other than direct debit, your payment is due on the 1st of each month. For an annual bill you can pay over ten or 12 instalments. If you pay over ten instalments you will get a payment holiday in February and March. If you pay over 12 instalments, the total amount you pay will be the same but your monthly instalment will be lower and you will not have the payment holiday.
Your bill will normally show ten instalments, but the following plans are also available:
- 12 monthly instalments
- One annual instalment, taken on 1 May
- two instalments, taken on 1 May and 1 September
Direct debit
This is the easiest way to pay.
Monthly Direct Debits (12 monthly payments) can be set up for the 1st, 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th of each month. To pay by direct debit, you can complete the business rates online direct debit.
You must have your Non Domestic Rates account number (printed on the front of your bill) and bank details ready.
Online banking and direct payments
Depending on the payment method used, payments should appear in the Council's bank account by the next day. To avoid reminders, you should allow up to five days for payments to be processed. To pay, quote your account number as the reference and send payment to:
