Countryside management

  • Brentwood's countryside management service is responsible for managing the Council's 26 countryside sites.

  • Volunteers carry out a variety of tasks including pond and woodland management, tree and hedge planting and public rights of way maintenance.

  • The Council manages two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI’s), one Local Nature Reserve (LNR) and 9 Local Wildlife Sites (LoWS).

  • Brentwood has a network of 243km of public rights of way; a diverse series of footpaths, bridleways and byways.
